Knee Bar or Calf Cuff?
« on: August 13, 2010, 12:04:15 AM »
Do you suggest paying £30 for the calf cuff? I currently have the knee bar, and I do have a piece of foam padding I put between my leg and the bar because it does hurt my leg a bit, but with the foam, no pain :)

But yea, are there any benefits of calf cuffs apart from speed to get on and off? Are they more comfortable? Do they loosen when using them?

Just thought I'd ask :)

Calf Cuffs are different for different people, some people like them some don't.

In my opinion I don't get on with them, I don't feel as safe with them, but then again I don't think I have tried them enough, and after a while I am sure id like them more. They are more comfortable aswell.
If you do them correctly (unlike me) they won't come loose, although if you don't do them correctly its very dangerous, I accedently did this once and landed very badly on my ankle.

all in all I suggest finding a group near you before getting them, to try and see if you like

Cuffs win!

Hi John here from Pro jump 101 about your question I prefer calf cuffs as you can get them nice a tight this = more control they also acted as a knee pad if you bail. Knee bars are also good as if you take a harsh bail they do not more were as with the calf cuffs you can nock one side in and will end up making you jump funny but it is an easy fix just undo the bolts replace it and tighten just remember if it moved you didn’t have it tight enough in the first place hope this helps any questions just let me know

Peace

i prefer calf cuffs, i would also say it also stops people pressing down on the knee bar and breaking it, happened to my mate about 2 weeks after he got them, then he brought calf cuffs

hi chris.
i bought the projump exo pro versions which come with both knee bars and cuffs.
i first used mine with cuffs for about two weeks. :PJ101John:
then hurt my knee so tried the knee bars.
 :Cno:
within 5 mins of the knee bars i went back to cuffs.
in my opinion they are very difficult to get on with and made me feel very unstable on the pro-jumps.
many other users do use bars but the majority prefer cuffs.
hope this helps.
regards
kevin

Please don't bump really old posts unless there is a reason. This user hasn't logged into this site for almost a year and a half. Thanks. (BTW, I totally agree about cuffs).

As a noob this is a question I was wondering about so it's good that it was bumped and still exists!
I tried bars yesterday for my first few steps. I want to try the cuffs but am not sure on how to set them up.
I'll be looking for the tips on the forums today.

Rude Dog, just look in the "setting up and adjusting your stilts" section of the forum and there is a sticky thread with a tutorial on how to set them up.
