My springs are gettin really ripped up. Ive looked around the forum and some people have said both a bike innertube or hockey tape. Wich one is the best? If i used hockey tape would it not rip when the springs move, and where could i get it from? if i used an innertube do i need to get a specific size? Thanx for any replies.

I used a innertube, got a 26" innertube from sainsburys for about £2!! Hockey tape is available from any sports store!!

plumbers tape would do too ---from a plumbing shop

I covered mine in loose rubber from an old motorcycle innertube and then wrapper them in gaffer tape you can get that from any hardware store

Now thats an idea if I wear a rubber wet suit and then wrap myself in loads of gaffer tape I might just bounce whichever way I fall

hockey tape is a kind of fabric like tape, that cushions the ball when you stop it, so its easier when its wizzing at 70mph past your head.

btw has anyone played any other sports on their PJ's yet? (i've tried hockey and tennis - didn't turn out tooooo badly)

Ps it is impossible to get hockey tape for less than £4/£5

buy some electrical tape then for about £1-£2 comes in quiet a few colours

Can I ask what the springs actually need protection from? Scraping them on the ground or on things you jump over and that sort of thing?

Sorry for the noob question, I haven't even ordered a pair of these yet

I thought that I would just go on mine a couple of times before I taped them and found out the hard way one of the bolts on the right PJ took a chunk out of the spring cover on the left one within 3 or 4 mins of starting

Tape them before you use them and wear wristguards

yeh its like when you sit on a wal because the curl outwards they get ripped also they sumtimes clang into eachother

Skiddydave ( mm do I want to know where that name comes from -maybe not).
Once you fall over and roll over to get up or are forced to crawl to a wall ( all part of the fun learning curve

) you will see how a spring can get damaged. Ive seen a guy climb onto a rubbish bin and the slip ( served him right really) scraping the springs as he fell.

What you do not want is the actual spring to get a nick in it as this would be a potential weak spot. So the idea is to build up a thicker protective barrier. Ideally get an inner tube, cut it to the length of the spring. Slit it length-ways wrap around the spring and then secure in place with tape, hockey or plumbing.
