Lifespan of Exo stilts...
« on: August 29, 2011, 09:34:44 PM »
Just wondering, if the stilts were 'aggressively' used for around 10-15 hours a week what would the expected lifespan of them be? cant imagine all the hard bouncing would be good for them in the long run :L

This is a tricky one.

It's my opinion that most people dont use them for 10 hours a week. There are few who do, but even so not every week.
I've had mine since October and they have been used rather a lot. Not 10 hours a week but I'm one of the more active bockers at the moment and they are still going strong. I admit, I didn't expect the springs to last this long so my answer to you is a approx a year.
But there is no definitive answer. Everyone jumps different and every set of springs are different.

That's good then, if I get a years use out of the springs I'll be more than happy. I suppose if I'm still practising in a year I'll probably just end up upgrading to the Pro versions by then...

I had one of the early prototypes 2 years or more ago and the springs are still going strong

They were used very heavily for the first year and regularly most of the rest of the time

Just so you know, there is no difference in the lifespan of the standard exo and the exo pro. Both use the same springs and both have such a strong frame that the frames will last a long time.

Much longer than I hoped.

I dont use tyre socks. I dont really like them and its too much messing about for me. Plus the stilts look cool in their natural way.
I bock as often as I can and had my stilts since the end of october last year and they do not look like they need replacing anytime soon.

For those who dont know, a few years ago I was very upset that the chinese had changed the rubber compound on the stilts and that (for users like us) the feet were wearing away in a matter of weeks. Fortunately the feedback did it's job and things are much better.

I don't know what other people have found but I'm happy if I need to buy a new set of feet once a year. I'll post pics when I get a chance.

Hoof wear is very dependant on the user

When I sold Hoofies most people said they lasted for ages but one guy (DG) went through a set in 2 weeks

Upon further investigation he used to go through the old PJ style in a week and 7's lasted him about 3 weeks

But when you saw him bock you could understand it he was the only person I ever saw powerslide on stilts  :Claugh: almost every time he landed

So what lasts one man ages can last another weeks

My Exo hoofs lasted ages but then so did hoofies

I've no idea DJ. China seem to make little changes as and when they like.

I took some pics today of my hoof thats been in use since October. I'll post them up in a lil while.

Those look just like what we get.

Are you guys getting some where the metal bits that the bolts go into pivot around inside the hoof? I've got two brand new sets that's been ruined for not being able to tighten the bolts.

Other then that I still love this kind.

I've heard of that before DJ but not experienced it myself.

I'm just wondering since other peoples feet seem to be lasting less than half of what mine have if china have changed things again.

I wont be happy if feet are only lasting a couple of months and then cost £24 for a new set.

we have lost 2 pair of feet also do to the section inside the rubber foot ungluing and just spinning when you try to tighten or loosen the bolts on the feet in the end to get the foot off we have had to rip the rubber foot off of the mushroom fitting :( it sucks

The feet we have got are all the same at the moment as there has been no other orders made so its all from the same batch / mould, in our experience we have found how long the rubber lasts is all dependant on the individual users, how they are used, where they are use & how often they are used.

We have had a handful of customers who have complained about the thread on the inside of the soles, but again this is quite a rare occurrence.

On the price of a price of soles, I'll see if we can revise that at some point.

If they are the all-rubber feet then they should fit.
