Hello! Can you help?
« on: January 11, 2011, 04:53:45 PM »

Hello! wow what a crazy sport!
My name is Tristan Bawn from UK Active Outdoors (www.ukactiveoutdoors.co.uk). I would like to do an article on this sport for the website with links back to this forum and others to show people how to get in to it and have a go themselves. I am also working with ITV west on a short segment for the friday evening news on a regular basis. This is one sport they would be interested in covering too. We need to film this fairly locally to Bristol and would consist of an interview about why you do it and how you can have a go and shots of Bocking in general. This is normally filmed on the thursday before going on air. Can anyone help us out? I am also keen to have a go too as part of the article and might be able to arrange a small group of us. Any ideas?
Cheers Tris

Hi Tris,

Nice to see you paying a visit to our Forum.   I live fairly close to Bristol, just south, and would be more than happy to meet up with you to discuss things, and let you have a try.

I haven't been bocking for too long, and am still learning so wouldn't be the best to show the extent of what can be done on Bocks.  There are however a fairly large group of guys in Cardiff, who are much more experienced, who I'm sure would be only too glad to get involved.

Locky is the main man there, and he is on the Forum regularly so 'Im sure he will add a comment before too long.

There are also other guys from around the country who will have experience with TV stuff.

If you and some other guys do fancy having a try, I would be more than happy to arrange something for you to have a try on my stilts.  I have a spare pair too, and can book my local gym if the weather's bad.  Locky might want to come along too depending on the times.

I'm 45, so even though I'm not the best at showing what you can do, I am a good example that all ages can take part.

If you want to chat further, just send me a pm and I'll send you my contact details.

Cheers

Graham

Welcome to the Pro Jump Forum Smiley
you've come to the right place for bockers haha XD

if you want good bockers who know all the skills its best to try contact Pro Jump 101 they are the demonstration team and have the best of bockers in it they know how to teach act on TV interview and are the best bunch of crazy bockers you will find also they do tour round the country and do loads of things, I have a feeling Ian or Becky will comment on this and most likely that Locky and Naz will as well.

If you want quick and very reliable advice for bockers to use I suggest dropping a PM to Naz the Webmaster to this forum she's helped out a lot of people so I dont see why she wont lend a hand Tongue

Aidan

p.s if you can get naz on stilts everysingle person on this forum will give u about £1000 Tongue

Hi Tris,

Let everyone know what you have in mind specifically (as best as you can) and I'm sure we'll be able to sort you out.

SpawnyB (Graham) mentions he's 45 as if that's an excuse or a bad thing. Pah! Admittingly this sport attracts the youth but the real world situation is pretty much anyone can do it and I always like to put that point across that bocking is not just for gymnasts and freerunners and we have people from all ages and backgrounds who regularly take part in bocking and absolutely love it.

Thanks for all getting back to me on here an email.

I'm guessing from the conversation I had with ITV they want to do a simple report about what the sport is about, consisting of some visual shots of people jumping around and showing various moves and tricks. Then an interview with someone or a few people about the sport and why they do it, how beginners can get involved and any other interesting facts about it.

As for our website we are always looking to support sports like this by the way of articles and videos. So I would like to get some photos and a run down of facts about the sport including events where people can go along to. I would also like to add in the small hand held go pro HD cameras to get some interesting shots if anyone is up for giving that a go. Doing this always opens up possibilities for you guys in our future videos too. All pictures and videos will be made clips will be made available for everyone involved of course. And i would also love to have a go!

It would be great to get a few together and i will email everyone asap who have emailed me about this thread.

I will keep everyone updated on here and appreciate the help.
