Hight of Knee hoops
« on: April 10, 2007, 10:31:07 PM »
I started of with the hoops just under my knees (uncomfortable)  :(
Lowered them 20mm (easier to jump or maybe I'm getting better) still bruises the back of my knees  :(

I just looked at a pic of Kiola

http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=31

(nice pic by the way) and he seems to have the hoops very low down his legs  :o

Is there an optimum spot or is it down to personal preference  ???

Its all down to your own personal comfort. Kiola has them that low so he can perform his move "Checking". I have them just below my knee cap which makes it virtually impossible to do "Checking". Becky puts foam over the bit of metal at the top of the spring to stop it causing bruises.

I have the junior version and my knee strap is very low, i'm still working out how to ajust it as it's different from the adult PJs.

Yeah, I'm back

Thanks ET I think I'll lower them and see how I get on

I like the look of the new junior ones easier to put on Dusty
hope you sort out the adjustment soon

What was the outcome of you lowering the hoops? i have had mine a day and had the hoop just below my knee and its really hurting the sides of my knees where i can feel it rubbing, i have Knee/Shin pads to soften it up but they dont help from the side.

If they are rubbing on the sides have a look at the earlier posts about tying yourself to the knee hoops as this keeps them still

I use the pit dirt knee pads as they tend to fit better and I find they don't rub as much

Yep  pit dirt work well I just got some and work.

A cheap way to reduce rubbig --cut foot off an old pair of footie sox and pull them up over the knee.

Oh and peeps if you lend your stilts out --find out the knee bars gt raised . An our into a session on thursday, continually adjusting my pads. I got told 'oh yeah he raised them on Sunday' Had kne bars digging in/pushing up knee pads for 2 1/2 hours -- got home and they really hurt

I have mine as low as Kiola for exactly the same reason, easier to do moves like "checking". If you find that the springs are hitting the back of your legs, go to B&Q (or any other DIY outlet ;) ) and get one of those pads your nan kneels on to do the gardening, cut two footplate pieces out and attatch to you foot plates, you might find you don't even have to touch the knee bars as it places your legs higher in the frames!

I have been thinking of doing that. Would be nice to not have a spring in the back of my leg every now and then  Doh!
