Pro-Jump Gymfest 2011
« on: November 03, 2010, 10:22:30 PM »
Hey, as a lot of you may know Pro-Jump in the past have been happy sponsors of the "Pro-Jump Gymfest" but due to declining numbers they ended. Recently on the forum I heard someone talking about them saying they miss them and others would like to do it again.
So after talking to Naz, and talking to various gyms around the Midlands (well I think it is the midlands) I have found a few gyms who are able to loan us there sports facilities for the day. I have to say this really is just in planning at the moment, but Naz has said if I can get everything organized and a willing number of people Pro-Jump will do the same as they have done in previous years.

I have not made an decisions on dates as of yet, as I want everyones input I am setting out some possibilities please tell me yes no, whether you are interested, or any other advice.

Places
Birmingham
Leicester
Bristol
London
Nottingham

Possible Dates
Easter half term 2011
Early Summer 2011
Late Summer 2011
October half term 2011

As I have said these are only possibilities and will gladly take advice on places dates etc.
I hope you will all be interested in this, would be good to see everyone come together for a large event like this again
Thanks

Hi DC,  Hope you're doing well.

I would be interested in any of these.

Just out of curiosity, which Bristol Gym were you talking with?  Was this the same one I held my gym meet at.  I assume not, as mine was about 30 mins south of Bristol.

I am on good terms with my local gym, and they were fine with it.  Although mine is a bit out of the way for a lot of people,  probably the closest for the Devon troops and Welsh Bockers.

Cheers

Graham
Hmmmmmmm........Why did I buy these again?!?!?!?

The Bristol gym one is actually from my ex Aikido(martial art) teacher, he runs the 'national Aikido federation' and hires out the gym to get a little extra cash

p.s. Yeah I am doing well (ish) how are you?

I deff think easter would be good, 9th of april would be ideal :P (I wonder why :P) but I think picking a central location would be good, maybe try seeing what train tickets would cost from the various places where main groups are and choose the cheeper location, because I think that would be how a lot of people would do it, not sure though, guess cars there aswell :L

I'm usually ok for giving a couple of people a lift, and the 9th April sounds great to me.

Tis my Birthday.  (I know that isn't who you meant)

I guess it would be sensible at the location with the most attendees:

London best for Banned, EA, Essex and TV?

Birmingham or Leicester or Nottingham for the Central and Northerly dudes?

Bristol for Welshies and Raptors
Hmmmmmmm........Why did I buy these again?!?!?!?

Birmingham does have good road and rail links from most major places I agree,

What was the gym like?

Plenty of mats, equipment and soft play items??

Well, it seems its two peoples birthdays on the 9th, so do it on the 9th :P And birmingham sounds good, cos london is a bit expensive for the welshies and Raptors to go really, its ok on the odd occasion, but only using alice. Birmingham is a bit more central and easier for most people to get to :)

Also, you might need to check term dates for different areas, for instance, my school break up on the 8th but I know my cousins, from portsmouth, seem to usually break up a week earlier or later than us

Hehe :P it will be my 18th :D
Well to be honest Birmingham is the only gym that has not got back to me yet :S but if there is enough interest I will ring them and force and answer (in a polite professional way of course)

Also what times would people be interested in?

That depends on the weather I guess, How about booking the gym for a few hours with a possibility of more depending on weather, although if people are traveling quite far I would like to have a day of it,
Maybe have a little competition etc.

Brum or Bristol is good with us, depending on dates of course.

I think it's important to ensure the gym has the right equipment and enough of it. This definately wasnt a problem at lincoln, they seemed to have plenty of everything. I only mention it because its really good to have something else other than just gym mats and crash mats - the red blocks at lincoln as an example.
I think the gym needs 5 hours really, if it does turn into a meet afterwards then great, but concentrate on the gym :)

Re: Nottingham Gym. I can most likely persuade Uni to let us have the gym if there are enough people, which this sort of event seems to attract, so no problem there. I've never done it before, as there aren't really the numbers here.

Size wise, we could have equal too or bigger than Lincoln, just as a rough guide. No idea on prices though, I'd most likely have to negotiate a special deal. DC, which gym did you speak to in Nottingham?

Although I'd love this in Nottingham, I think due to the fact there are only 3/4 bockers actually in Nottingham, it might not be worth it if everyone has to travel here. Especially when for example Brum has all of sky high already there, it just seems convenient. I'm happy with most places tbh, as its usually worth travelling for 5/6 hours of gym time :)

Well what about the Lincoln gym then if everyone is willing to travel a little bit, they have held this event before and it would be a lot easier to get them onside again :)
also where is Brum???
Ummm... chocl8 if you could find out what equipment they have that, it could really help a decision

So we need a large gym for 5 hours, in beteen bristol, Birmingham and London. With the right equipment?

Well as you know i run the sessions at lincoln , and are sure i could sort out a full day again like the last ones .

As the gym is very well equipped, as lots of you have attended before at the original pro jump sessions .

just offering at the moment as just thought i would throw it into the mix.

brum = birmingham

I dont think we'd manage lincoln again. Maybe as a one off but not for something semi-regular.
