Doncaster Stadium - The Big One
« on: March 08, 2007, 01:48:31 PM »
Where: Doncaster Stadium       When: Thursday April 12th 6pm (7pm kickoff)

The big boss of the Doncaster Lakers loves us on springs :D and they have a big massive game at Doncaster stadium next month and he wants us there. I mean ALL of us. There will be a good size crowd there and we are needed to do a rather special lap during the pre-match entertainment. The match will be shown live on skysports and I believe they usually ask people at random for a quick interview just about who and what we are etc so tv coverage is a possibility for us too. I cannot tell you how much of an honour and an amazing experience this will be for everyone who can make it.

We have some free accomadation organised (I think at a college gym nearby) and can stay overnight. The next day we have access to a few good bocking facilities which are being made available just for us. I'll give more details about this when we know whats going on.

For those of you in school, this should be during the easter holidays.

All I can say right now is that the boss wants as many people there on stilts as possible and this really will be a spectacular event and experience, not only individually for us but as the sport on the whole.

I have no transport details at this time. That means I dont know if there will be a minibus or if I'll even be available to drive it. It might even be up to you to get there or to organise with others who are coming up. I'll do the best I can, but right now I just dont know.

Basically, this is an event we'd like EVERYONE to come too! If we have 300 bockers there then thats just fine and this is open to bockers of all ages and ability, it really doesnt matter if you cant do any tricks at all!

Obviously some people wont be able to make this because its mid-week and people have work or other commitments - fair enough, as unfortunate as that may be.

As for the rest of you....lets get ready to rumble!!!!!!

For those of you who do not know this is the video of the 1st lap we did a few weeks back:
http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=375.0

Basically it is just going around the outside of the pitch (nice bocking surface) and entertaining the crowd but there will be so many of us at this meet so it wont really matter if you can hardly jump at all.

I am hoping this lap will be a little more organised as we've been very random with what we do out there. Maybe this time we can get all the bockers doing the same things at the same time such as bouncing, one foot hopping, clapping, waving, shouting lol whatever but doing it all together. Those who can flip will be able to do so but I intend to tease the crowd as much as possible.

Oh and Reon (who is 5) will be out on stilts too and last week his dancing got the largest applause!

Yes, and a pillow. There are showers at the stadium and I understand we'll be staying at a college gym very close to the stadium (not at the gym in bradford which is 45min away).

As someone who has been to a couple of these events I would urge anyone that can, to come. You will have an absolutely awesome time. Bocking at the stadium is great fun and with a few hundred of us it will be insane  ;D. This is your chance to be a part of history.....dont miss out

Wear whatever you would usually wear when bocking.
We have some hometeam rugby shirts that some people like to put on (which the boss prolly likes) but it also gets abuse from the away team lol.

Yeah they'll always be someone on stilts just to make sure everyone knows where to go.

Great thing is cuz we arrive much earlier than the crowd that the car parks are almost empty and the number of people about is quite low.

I should have some more details about this event over the next few days.
