Knee Pads?
«
on:
March 10, 2009, 10:50:59 PM »
Hey everyone, I've just dug out my old kneepads that I used to use for skating, and I was wondering if they would be ok for bocking?
http://www.prolineskates.com/acatalog/info_3009.html
Very uncomfortable :p
These are them, I reckon they'd buffer a fall quite substantially, because when I put them on, I can just fall on to my knees and I can barely feel it.. So, what does everyone reckon?
P.S: Is anyone else having problems uploading pictures?
::EDIT: Really what I'm asking is, Would some ABS system kneepads be better? Surely they don't buffer the fall?....meh.:

I think one of the EAs has them
But anyhoos...Most bockers use the pitdirt ones from PJ with the shin bit because it makes the knee bar more secure. I used other knee pads for a bit and they didnt fit well with the knee bar at all. I have just switched to cuffs and I'm still using the pit dirt knee pads and its fine but a lot of people change back to normal ones when they get cuffs (or none at all)
They are really stong and take a lot. Mine have taken a fair amount and they just look scruffy
But I have broken like 2 wristguards lol
I dont think they are in stock atm tho lol..might be wrong...

They are very good knee pads, I love them, I have to put some cloth on the back of my knees, though, because I have the old versions that don't have holes at the back, so it rubs horribly
I'm just not prepared to test a big fall on them, though

I thought it might have been trip that had them..haha I guess I was right
Toddy, your bocks are nuts..you have so much stuff hanging off them lol
And archie. If you are gonna come to some EA meets its probs best to find something that will be comfy for a good few hours
but then...trip uses them I think so they probably are ok
and if the protection is good then bonus

But If my 'pads are ok, then I don't have to buy new ones, right?
I just want to know if they have enough protection from a decent fall, Well, as much of a fall as other kneepads would take?

Do you attach you knee pads/guards under or over calf cuff's?
I guess putting them over wouldnt work.
Anybody ever had the more over the top knee/shin guards? I feel that they would be to bulky str***ed in next to the calf pad.

I bought some cheap skate type knee pad/guards
http://www.rollergirlskates.com/images/P/Pro-Tec_Knee_Pads.jpg
that were pull on with licra material stuff that pretty much cut of your circulation the moment you bent your knees. Same story for most skate knee pads.
Ended up going to a motorcycle shop and buying these.
Cheep'o $30 fox knee/shin guards
They do the job fine, the velcro on the calf cuff only just fits around them, but no biggie.

Some bad news and some goodish news regarding the PIT DIRT knee / shin pads
Bad news - It doesn't look like these will be coming in
Goodish news - We will start stocking the Dixon GP Knee / Shin pads, these are more of less the same as the Pit Dirt ones but with a different brand logo. There will be a price increase on these to £12.99 inc delivery. These should be in store by Tuesday.
