What a predicament....
« on: February 23, 2009, 10:15:08 PM »

Kiwi is BACK!! lol havent beeen away for long, just got busy with the start of my semester....

now i dunno if you guys know but glaxo and i go bocking every monday in kingston... and well today was no different.... except the fact that we swapped stilts... he's got 7's t-rex and got PJ m90s and well the difference to me was immediate!!! the 7's where so much more responsive and instantly i was jumping higher, i was more comfortable and secure and was running better too!

as clive, darf, gazza, bio and fysh know i can only get about 4 inches off the floor with the PJ's im now confused about what i should doo.......

i absolutley love the 7s but im also thinking would i get the same effect if i just got softer springs?

any halp?

you would probably get the same effect with softer springs, because you're more of an m70 weight arent you?

Kiwi. M90s and T-rex are not the best pairs to compare with. the 90s are much stiffer. You should try some M70s, right weight or not they are the only springs that will give you a fair comparison. You are bound to think the softer springs are nicer. So get some that are near equal and then test.

Hi Kiwi

7's are very easy to get going on and have a different spring feel (I am not keen on them as I bottom them all the time)

If your springs are too heavy now you will love them once you build the technique and muscle to use them  but like you say you could always go down a weight to get started (that would be cheapest) and if your worried about changing them I could do them for you

Why not try and get along to a meet where someone is willing to let you try a lighter pair before you make your mind up

If you could get over to Hanworth at the weekend Clives daughter has my wifes 540 skips and you could try them (that will really mess you mind up  :Claugh:)

But don't be to worried as it's time spent exercising on the bocks that make the difference and you might need to build some leg muscle to bend the springs so just do what you can until your knackered them start again once you get your breath back and after a couple of sessions you will notice the difference (and you'll sleep well too  :Claugh:)

I try to run up every flight of stairs taking them 3 at a time to help build muscle (down to2 with the ankle) that helps a lot

lol whoa 3 steps at a time is that with or without bocks lol?

i did try clives daughters jumps when we met on the 25th and they were definitely bouncier....  ( they are the running ones right? with the green tyre socks? )

but comparing those with the 7's i was more comfortable, able to get more hight on and .. feel 'free' on the 7's .. ... maybe coz i was not that experienced back then i dunno. . . but i would sell my current ones to get the 7's if i decided so change...

im still  looking for advice....

Like clive said the ones you tried were his old springs
The ones I am suggesting are Powerskip springs and you might have to save for a while to get some if you like them  :Claugh:

There not to expensive only about £800 if you want the frames too  :Claugh:

But its worth trying them just to see what they feel like as I find them like soft PJ springs but then people say I'm strange

Now who do we know with some 70's so we can keep Kiwi in the PJ camp  :Claugh:

I would normally say 80's but as your on 90's and find them very hard it would be worth trying a set of 70's before you buy it really depends on how quick you learn as you might be bottoming out 70's in a week

We really need to find you a set of each to try and the best bet for that is a Gym meet

Sounds good Kiwi

Trouble is we only have one light set of springs and they are Skips so it although it will be good for you to try them we need a set of 70's
You may find that you still prefer 7's but at least you are sure then and won't waste money finding out

Clives ones that you tried were 83's and they weren't that worn out  so I would say if they were still to stiff you need to try 70 carbons as they seem to come up a bit stiffer than the Glass ones (clives were glass)

So an Invictor gym meet would be a good place or we could invite a few people to a kingston meet and hope to get someone to let you try
