Pro-Jump Calf Cuff Walkthrough
« on: October 02, 2008, 10:50:51 PM »

Ok folks now they are available thought it might be worth telling you how I fitted mine

First all most of these pics are of the LEFT bock the right one will be a mirror image with everything round the other way (the reason for this will become obvious)

This is what it should look like when it is fitted

Before you start you need to measure how far your calf is from the upright of the bockswhile you still have the old kneebars on (see further down this post)
I don't know if PJ's will be sold with Cuffs already fitted but if they are try to get your leg positioned upright in comparison to the main upright support
(The square post bit behind your leg)

Bolting on the bars that support the cuffs is easy but you must get them about the right height for you and they need to be the right width apart for your legs and they need to be centered so your leg isn't leaning to one side or the other (It will take you a while to get them right later but that is half the fun)
So meanwhile bolt them on and get them somewhere near where they should be
Later when you get them adjusted it might be worth marking them as I have in the following pic

The cuffs are made up of 3 main parts

1] The inner padding
2] The section with the buckle
3] The section with the strap

The buckle bit has a bolt cover on it and should always go inside your leg (the cover stops the nuts catching together)

They should be fitted as in the picture below ( First pic is the left bock second the right bock)

The velcro at the back is your adjustment to move your leg back and forward

First you need an idea of where your leg should be so put one bock on with the old hoops and measure the distance from the bock to the back of your calf ( The pic below shows how to measure when the cuffs are fitted) this is to put your leg in a good position when you first use the Cuffs (you can adjust them for preference later)

Now for the confusing bit
The back velcro on the outside of the bock goes on the inside and the back velcro on the inside of the bock goes outside (look at the pic it makes more sence) You can get a rough idea of the adjustment using the mesurement to your calf try to get it as close as possible but allow for the thickness of the padding

Fitting the padding
If you fold the padding in half and put the middle into the center of the back velcro then work round attaching the velcro evenly

You need to do the bolts up on the clamps fairly tightly to stop the bars rotating and I found that if I can't push the bars round by hand they will stay still in normal use (In case you were wondering about the pic I removed the calf pads due to my calfs being to big and rubbing on them)

Next how to do them up

The following series of pics should make this clear

1] Thread the strap through the buckle with the loose metal bit as shown (First pic)
2] Now feed the strap back through on the other side of the loose metal bit (Second pic)
3] Pull the strap tight  this may take a fair bit of effort to tighten it enough when it is new (Third pic)
4] Take the end of the strap and velcro it to the back of the cuff (Fourth pic)

The last pic shows how NOT to do the strap up as if you do it like this only the velcro will be holding it and it will be very dangerous

Hi how do i attach to sevens as they are really loose and i cannot seem to be able to see the plastic thing's on the pro-jump website. i was thinking of adding rubber round the poles to provide friction   but wow cuffs are so much more nicer on the legs

They do sell the plastic bits just Naz hasn't had time to put them up

The 7 ones are to flimsy to hold the bars properly best to PM Naz (webmaster) and she will sort it out for you

I would just like to say I have been using the pro jump calf cuffs for a week now and they are really good. very strong and comfortable and look well made. I really like that there is no bolts on the sides that stick out. I had loads of trouble with them going though stilt trousers and damaging my stilts when they hit.

great product, recommended.
