« on: January 02, 2008, 02:38:51 PM »
Hi
I know over the last few weeks we have had quite a few new Scouts on here, and I know some of he longer standing members are Scouts too!
Just incase another event like Live07 occurs where we need Scouts on Bocks, let me know if ur a Scout!

Spud, why not join the Senior Section as a member of SSAGO   http://www.ssago.org.uk/

From the Girlguiding website

"The Student Scout and Guide Organisation is for people who are studying full or part time at university or college. Take a look at the  SSAGO web site for more details. There are groups at many universities in the UK, or you can be a lone member if there is no group at your place of higher education. The group organises activities and members may continue working on various Girlguiding UK and Scout membership schemes as they so choose. Members can also participate in the various Senior Section opportunities as they choose – providing they are under 26."

Becky - were you on the 'Listening Ear' team at the WSJ?

Seems like a pretty good idea. I would have to be a lone ember though until I moved up to uni. Seems like a good opportunity and one I will be having a  good look at

Thanks

I'm too old to join as a scout :(
I could be a Scout leader !?
I can rub to bits of wood together and make a fire and get a lovely meal when camping in the woods where I'd never get lost !

OK the bits of wood is and match on a match box and I'd be calling "Dial-a-pizza"  and god bless Sat-Nav :o
I did said I could be a Scout Leader, never said a good one  ;D

Lol DK, you can join as a leader if you want to. Everywhere is in need of leaders to make the units run, and give the kids all the opportunities available to them!
Give this vid a watch - its everything i did im my first year at Network (18-25 year old Scouts)

hey, i'm a explorer. Our network in Bradford is basically a drinking club.  When they meet (usually in a pub) they talk and drink. Explorers i think is better though, u've got less things u can legally do, but it's given me gd opportunities. Like i'm now a member of bronty archers.
But because my brother and his friend are in the same group as me, we have to go walking... :( mostly down the hill that Blackhills is on and up the otherside to St. ives golf course and round there. It can be a real dragsometimes...

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it!

Thats a shame choco bean, thats the opinion lots of people have of network. But although ours does involve some drinking we do loads of more exciting things - see video! :P
I started my own Network at Uni with my best friend. We went round campus recruiting and now decide what we want to do - in the last 10 weeks we did rifle shooting, iceskating, sugar cube towers, cinema, quiz, pool and darts eve, performed in the 02 arena, and threw a 3 hr christmas party/games eve! Dont think we have been to the pub once yet!
Stick with explorers for a bit, then try and get a group of u together to make a network - you get to decide what you want to do!
If you do join Network get them to go to all the camps - loads of Bockers at those (us!) including the face of network!

I was a scout, well I was a venture in Aveley Mammoth patrol, was good, but left when they changed the system due to nearest unit being over 8 miles away, but want to get back in to it again, looking at joining a Network unit when I leave uni, and staying in one place for good!!
