This guide gives a brief introduction to the Bocking tutorials that are available on the website or coming soon.
Walking is the same on stilts as on feet, only you will have to learn to balance. When learning to walk its a good idea to hold onto someones shoulders or a wall until you get used to balancing. Walking is easier if you keep your feet facing forwards and pick your feet up with every step you take - really bend your knees so that your feet leave the floor, otherwise you might trip over your own feet! (and you cant stand still - everyone has tried and it doesnt work!). A video tutorial for your first steps can be found here
Running is the natural progression from walking. Just dont push yourself before you are ready. Try some gentle jogs before racing like a cheetah. Again, don't forget to lift those feet up every step or you'll take a tumble. Some find running up a hill or gentle slope easier to learn. Tutorial coming soon
Do not be afraid of falling. Everyone does it at least once and most get away with a few scrapes and bruises. The best advice is once you know you are going down, don't fight it and try to roll with the fall.
Always wear wrist guards, knee pads and maybe a helmet too.
Learning to get up with stilts on is a bit of an art and is quite difficult to explain properly. It's far easier for you to watch a video of someone doing it.
A kanga hop is simply jumping with 2 feet. It might be jumping on the spot, over an object like a box or a wall or jumping forwards.
This move is usally picked up pretty quickly after walking and running and it is a fundamental move for most of the tricks beyond this.
It's important to get the correct technique when jumping but we'll cover this later. Tutorial coming soon
So you can now kangahop...lets try your first trick. It's dead easy and almost everyone can do this really quickly. When you are jumping thrust your arms and legs out as far as you can so that you look a little like a star. There...easy! Tutorial coming soon
This is when you are kanga-hopping and you bend your knees up to your chest at the top of the jump.
Sounds simple enough but learning a tuck will really help you control your bouncing power and your balance. Tutorial coming soon
Vaulting is where commitment kicks in. Vaulting is placing your hands on a wall, rail or similar object and transferring a bit of your body's weight to your arms while your legs come up and over the object, to the side of your upper body.
You need to be able to vault without stilts on first and to learn this maneuver with stilts you need to find an obstacle at the correct height for you (a few inches above your waist).
A recent extension of this is vaulting an object and then vaulting straight back over with no stopping or bouncing in between. This is known as re-vaulting (revolting) and your landing of one vault becomes the launch of the next and this continues until you cant do anymore due to dizzyness or failure.

Split kicks is when you are at the heighest point of a kangahop and you throw one leg as far forward as possible and the other leg as far backwards
As you are learning this it's important to kick out from the hips and not just from the knees.
Tutorial coming soon
When you are jumping you bend one or both (double spring grab) of you legs backwards and reach down with your hands to grab the spring for as long as you can hold it. Don't forget to let it go before landing!
Tutorial coming soon
This isn't easy to explain =) A Japan air is similar to a split kick but instead of your front leg going staight out in front, you change the angle so your bottom half of your body is twisted and your upper body twists in the opposite direction.
When you are comfortable with the japan air you can stick in some combo moves like some spring grabs etc..
Tutorial coming soon
