The problem is changing the spring without removing the kneebar/Cuffs (as it ruins the settings if you do)<br /> <br /> Discussion topic can be found <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=3302.0"><span id="link">here</span></a><br /> <br /> <br /> </p> <h3><span class="tutcont343rf3wr2reg32rg1">Changing Springs Tutorial</span></h3> <p><strong>Tools Needed</strong><br /> <br /> You will need either two 13mm spanners and two 10mm spanners or one of each size spanner and a small socket set with 13mm and 10mm sockets<br /> <br /> <strong>Method </strong><br /> <br /> So first undo the big bolt at the top of the hoof as shown in pic below<br /> </p> <p><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/bocking-tutorials/Spring-Change/first-bolt.jpg" border="3" height="224" width="300" /></p> <p>This allows you to swing the whole spring back so you can access the lower nut on the top bracket without removing the Kneebar/Cuff<br /> Now undo the two nuts and bolts that attach the spring to the top bracket</p> <p><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/bocking-tutorials/Spring-Change/top-bolt-access.jpg" border="3" height="225" width="300" /></p> <p><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/bocking-tutorials/Spring-Change/Top-bracket-awk-bolt.jpg" border="3" height="225" width="300" /></p> <p>You should now be left with the spring with a hoof attached as below if you are just swapping the springs side for side (to even wear) this is as far as you need to go as if you leave the hoof on it also swaps the hoof rubbers as well and evens up the wear on them<br /> <br /> I tend to swap my springs round every 2 months or so as we all have a dominant foot and so wear one spring more than the other I have found that swapping them makes them last longer</p> <p><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/bocking-tutorials/Spring-Change/Spring-and-hoof.jpg" border="3" height="400" width="300" /></p> <p>If you are replacing the spring completely you now need to remove the hoof<br /> There are two ways to do this so first I'll show the way that keeps the top bearing in place (handy if you have glued your bearings in place)<br /> <br /> Undo the bolt throught the bottom hoof bearing<br /> This is where you can do it in two ways<br /> <br /> A)--This should allow you to move the hoof away from the spring so you can get to the nuts<br /> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; that hold the lower bracket in place<br /> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; (If it is to tight to do this you may need to remove the white packer at the top hoof <br /> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; bearing to loosen it) <br /> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Now you can withdraw the spring without disturbing the bearing <br /> <br /> B)--Alternatively if you don't mind removing the top hoof bearing you don't need to remove<br /> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;the bottom bracket but if you are changing the spring it will have to come off anyway </p> <p><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/bocking-tutorials/Spring-Change/lower-hoof-disman.jpg" border="3" height="225" width="300" /></p> <p><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/bocking-tutorials/Spring-Change/remove-lower-bracket.jpg" border="3" height="225" width="300" /></p> <p><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/bocking-tutorials/Spring-Change/remove-spring.jpg" border="3" height="225" width="300" /></p> <p>Assemly is the reverse of the above but I will run throught it anyway<br /> <br /> Slide the spring into the hoof section and attach the lower bracket with the two bolts, nuts and spring washers</p> <p><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/bocking-tutorials/Spring-Change/lowwer-bracket-assmb.jpg" border="3" height="225" width="300" /></p> <p>Attach the top of the spring to the top bracket with the two bolts, nuts and spring washers</p> <p><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/bocking-tutorials/Spring-Change/top-bracket-assmb.jpg" border="3" height="225" width="300" /></p> <p>Swing the spring back down and attach the top hoof bearing with locknut, bolt and four washers <br /> Make sure you put the washers in the right places as shown in the pic</p> <p><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/bocking-tutorials/Spring-Change/top-hoof-bearing-assmb.jpg" border="3" height="225" width="300" /></p> <p>Thats it folks just don't forget to replace the white packers if you took them out<br /> <br /> Jason&nbsp; <img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/Smileys/default/Hoofies2.gif" border="0" /> <img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/Smileys/default/CGEEK.gif" border="0" /><br /> </p> <h2>* Disclaimer </h2> <p class="tutdisc"> Any modifications, setting up guides, advice and tutorials found on the Pro-Jump Forum should only be followed at your own risk. are fitting a set of Calf Cuffs from scratch.</p> <p> First of all most of these pics are of the LEFT bock the right one will be a mirror image with everything round the other way (the reason for this will become obvious later on) Please click on the pictures to enlarge them.<br /> <br /> Discussion topic can be found <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=2643.0" title="Adjusting your bindings">here</a><br /> <br /> </p> <h3>HOW YOUR PRO-JUMPS LOOK FITTED WITH CALF CUFFS</h3> <p> This is what it should look like when it is fitted <p> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2223;image" target="_blank" id="link_2223" onclick="return expandThumb(2223);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2224;image" alt="" id="thumb_2223" border="0" /></a> <h3>BEFORE YOU START</h3> <p> Before you start you need to measure how far your calf is from the upright of the bockswhile you still have the old kneebars on (see further down this post)<br /> I don't know if PJ's will be sold with Cuffs already fitted but if they are try to get your leg positioned upright in comparison to the main upright support <br /> (The square post bit behind your leg)<br /> <br /> Bolting on the bars that support the cuffs is easy but you must get them about the right height for you and they need to be the right width apart for your legs and they need to be centered so your leg isn't leaning to one side or the other (It will take you a while to get them right later but that is half the fun) <br /> So meanwhile bolt them on and get them somewhere near where they should be <br /> Later when you get them adjusted it might be worth marking them as I have in the following pic </p> <p> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2225;image" target="_blank" id="link_2225" onclick="return expandThumb(2225);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2226;image" alt="" id="thumb_2225" border="0" /></a></p> <h3>GETTING TO KNOW YOUR CALF CUFFS AND SETTING THEM UP</h3> <p> The cuffs are made up of 3 main parts<br /> <br /> 1] The inner padding<br /> 2] The section with the buckle<br /> 3] The section with the strap<br /> <br /> The buckle bit has a bolt cover on it and should always go inside your leg (the cover stops the nuts catching together)<br /> <br /> They should be fitted as in the picture below ( First pic is the left bock second the right bock) <br /> </p> <p> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2227;image" target="_blank" id="link_2227" onclick="return expandThumb(2227);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2228;image" alt="" id="thumb_2227" border="0" /></a> <p> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2255;image" target="_blank" id="link_2255" onclick="return expandThumb(2255);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2256;image" alt="" id="thumb_2255" border="0" /></a> <p> The velcro at the back is your adjustment to move your leg back and forward<br /> <br /> First you need an idea of where your leg should be so put one bock on with the old hoops and measure the distance from the bock to the back of your calf ( The pic below shows how to measure when the cuffs are fitted) this is to put your leg in a good position when you first use the Cuffs (you can adjust them for preference later) <p> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2231;image" target="_blank" id="link_2231" onclick="return expandThumb(2231);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2232;image" alt="" id="thumb_2231" border="0" /></a> <p> <strong>Now for the confusing bit </strong><br /> The back velcro on the outside of the bock goes on the inside and the back velcro on the inside of the bock goes outside (look at the pic it makes more sence) You can get a rough idea of the adjustment using the mesurement to your calf try to get it as close as possible but allow for the thickness of the padding <p> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2233;image" target="_blank" id="link_2233" onclick="return expandThumb(2233);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2234;image" alt="" id="thumb_2233" border="0" /></a> <p> <strong>Fitting the padding </strong><br /> If you fold the padding in half and put the middle into the center of the back velcro then work round attaching the velcro evenly <p> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2235;image" target="_blank" id="link_2235" onclick="return expandThumb(2235);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2236;image" alt="" id="thumb_2235" border="0" /></a> <p> You need to do the bolts up on the clamps fairly tightly to stop the bars rotating and I found that if I can't push the bars round by hand they will stay still in normal use (In case you were wondering about the pic I removed the calf pads due to my calfs being to big and rubbing on them) <br /> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2237;image" target="_blank" id="link_2237" onclick="return expandThumb(2237);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2238;image" alt="" id="thumb_2237" border="0" /></a> <p> You now have a cuff fitted they should look like this <p> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2239;image" target="_blank" id="link_2239" onclick="return expandThumb(2239);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2240;image" alt="" id="thumb_2239" border="0" /></a> <p> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2241;image" target="_blank" id="link_2241" onclick="return expandThumb(2241);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2242;image" alt="" id="thumb_2241" border="0" /></a> <p> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2243;image" target="_blank" id="link_2243" onclick="return expandThumb(2243);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2244;image" alt="" id="thumb_2243" border="0" /></a> <h3>NOW THAT YOU HAVE FITTED THEM THIS IS HOW YOU CAN DO THEM UP<br /> </h3> <p> <strong>This part of the tutorial can also be found in your <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?page=26" target="_blank">Pro-Jump Manual</a> on page 7 </strong><br /> <br /> The following series of pics should make this clear<br /> <br /> 1] Thread the strap through the buckle with the loose metal bit as shown <br /> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2245;image" target="_blank" id="link_2245" onclick="return expandThumb(2245);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2246;image" alt="" id="thumb_2245" border="0" /></a><br /> 2] Now feed the strap back through on the other side of the loose metal bit <br /> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2247;image" target="_blank" id="link_2247" onclick="return expandThumb(2247);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2248;image" alt="" id="thumb_2247" border="0" /></a><br /> 3] Pull the strap tight  this may take a fair bit of effort to tighten it enough when it is new<br /><a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2249;image" target="_blank" id="link_2249" onclick="return expandThumb(2249);"><img src="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2250;image" alt="" id="thumb_2249" border="0" /></a><br /> 4] Take the end of the strap and velcro it to the back of the cuff <br /><a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2251;image" target="_blank" id="link_2251" onclick="return to do the strap up as if you do it like this only the velcro will be holding it and it will be very dangerous<br /> <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=2643.0;attach=2253;image" target="_blank" id="link_2253" onclick="return expandThumb(2253);"><img These need to be loosened which will then allow the knee bar to move up and down. <p>2.Do not undo them completely, as there is no need. Loosen them so that it can be moved up and down without loosening them to the extent that they completely come off. </p> <p>3.Once you have set it to the ideal place for you then tighten all the bolts back up evenly, firmly tighten the screws but do not over-tighten them. </p> <p>A good tip suggested by <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=276">Urbantricker</a> is that you should work on the screws one at a time but diagonally - So do one, then go diagonally across and tighten the other one then do the same again, so that the plastic parts come together square. <p>Another tip by <a href="http://www.projumpforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=328">PinHead69</a> is never to do the screws tight straightaway but always do them evenly so you are working on them one at a time, tightening them a little but not all the way, eventually getting them all tight - and remembering not to over tighten them as you may damage it!<br /> </p> <h2>* Disclaimer </h2> <p class="tutdisc"> Any modifications, setting up guides, advice and tutorials found on the Pro-Jump Forum should only be followed at your own risk.
