WHAT IS "BOTTOMING OUT"

The picture below shows "UrbanTricker" "Bottoming Out" his stilts. "Bottoming Out" is when the user manages to bend their spring so much that the footplate and the bottom of the spring meet!

When you “Bottom Out” the underside of your footplate and the top of your spring meet and may make a thudding sound. There is a rubber stopper which helps reduce the impact but continuingly “Bottoming Out” may give you a sore back so it is important to upgrade and get the next spring size up.

Urban Tricker Bottoming Out

WHEN DOES "BOTTOMING OUT" HAPPEN?

“Bottoming Out” happens when you manage to get the maximum compression from your springs. (Maximum compression is basically when you can’t bend your springs any further)

This usually happens for a few reasons:
•You are putting a lot of force into the springs
•You are developing a good technique
•Due to your actual body weight
•Your springs are getting weaker

WHEN IS "BOTTOMING OUT" A GOOD THING?

•Only if “Bottoming Out” happens occasionally or when you are putting a lot of power in them, is it a good thing.

•When you are “Bottoming Out” and getting the maximum compression from your springs, yet you notice that you are getting more height on your bounce! (If you see the above picture of Ian, he bottom’s out yet he gets excellent height on his flip)

•Also if you are within your weight limit or under it and you manage to bottom them out, you actually have got a very good technique so well done!

WHEN IS "BOTTOMING OUT" A BAD THING?

•On new purchases… When you put them on but straightaway you notice that the springs bend so much that they look like they have already “Bottomed Out” – This usually means that the weight you purchased was incorrect for you.

•On springs that have been used… If you start to notice that when you wear them they seem to flex a lot more than they used to and have lost their springiness it may be time to upgrade to the next weight limit. You’ll also notice that you start to bottom them out even when you are just walking swiftly.

•If you are “Bottoming Out” frequently without any effort and are not getting the maximum energy return from your springs then it’s time for you to upgrade your springs to the next weight size.

•If you are “Bottoming Out” frequently then there will be extra stress on your lower foot bracket and it will become weaker and break. You should check this part before and after each use.

If you have any questions just ask, there’s a few discussions on this topic throughout the forum (see original topic link above) so you may want to check them out first, but if you can’t find the answer you are looking for do create a new topic :)

Warranty

Pro-Jump Forum Tutorials Is there a warranty on Pro-Jump Stilts?

By Pro-Jump.co.uk
PJF Contributor: Alex Sykes (Dark-Castles2)

When purchasing anything, one of the most common questions asked is if there is a warranty on the product, this article aims to answer that in detail and what to do if you need to claim under your warranty. Due to the nature of Pro-Jump Stilts they carry a limited warranty and need TLC for you to get the most out of them.

IS THERE A WARRANTY ON PRO-JUMP STILTS?

Yes Pro-Jump Jumping Stilts are covered by a limited warranty

WHAT DOES LIMITED WARRANTY MEAN?

It is a warranty with certain conditions and limitations on the parts covered, type of damage covered, and/or time period for which the agreement is good.

SO WHAT DOES THE WARRANTY COVER?

The actual FRAME of your Pro-Jump's is covered by a 6 months warranty.
The SPRINGS of your Pro-Jump's are covered for 3 months.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED?

Any damage caused by natural wear and tear, as well as damage caused due to improper or extreme use or unauthorised repairs will cause the guarantee to be void.

If your Pro-Jump's are used for anything other than recreational purposes they are not covered such as being used for work purposes / shows / extreme use

If your Pro-Jump's are hired out they will not be covered by the warranty

Any fault caused by deliberate or accidental damage, failure or loss caused by improper assembly, storage or use will not be covered by the warranty.

Wear and tear parts such as bearings / bushings, rubber soles, bindings, knee bar padding etc

WHAT IF I BUY THEM, USE THEM AND REALISE THAT THEY ARE NOT FOR ME?

Due to the nature of the product, as soon as the product is used, straight away it depreciates in value and we cannot resell this package again at the full price as they would be classed as a used product. Due to this we can not accept returns on Pro-Jump's once they have been used unless there is a manufacturer defect with them and they are still in the warranty period.

WHEN IS THIS WARRANTY APPLICABLE?

Our warranty only applies if

1) You are sold this product by an authorised Pro-Jump Dealer and you are the original purchaser. You must put your warranty claim through the dealer who it was brought from.

2) If the product is used for your own recreational use

3) If the product have not been brought for reselling.

HOW DO I MAKE A CLAIM UNDER THE WARRANTY?

At our own discretion, we will repair or replace all or part of your product if your warranty claim is successful. You can make a claim under warranty in two different ways:

1) Contact us via email on admin@projump.co.uk
You must include the following:
>>>> Your order number and method of ordering
>>>> The email address the order was placed under, name it was ordered under and address
>>>> Date of order
>>>> The full details of the fault
>>>> Clear pictures of the problem

The above method is the best way as it will give us a chance to evaluate the problem in a timely manner and means that we may require no further action on your part to rectify the problem.

2) Fill out the returns form that is found at the bottom of your invoice. If you no longer have this you can download one by clicking here
Please include the following:
>>>> Ensure the returns form is filled out in detail
>>>> Ensure the product you are returning is packaged properly and a trackable service is used. If it costs more that £15 for you to post back please call us and we may be able to offer a cheaper pick up service.
>>>> Ensure you include a copy of your invoice / receipt
>>>> Ensure you include all your details

This way of claiming often costs you more money and may cause an extra delay but would mean if we need your stilts back for any reason then we would already have them here, however in all cases emailing us first it the best method.

Do I Need Safety Gear whilst PowerBocking

Pro-Jump Forum TutorialsDo I need safety gear?

By Pro-Jump.co.uk
PJF Contributor: darfgarf

It is essential that safety gear is worn whilst Pro-Jumping.

We recommend the use of a helmet, Wrist guards, elbow pads and knee/shin pads to keep you safe. Some people also like to wear back protectors or something to protect your tail bone.

We have a sub forum dedicated to safety which can be found here

HELMETS...

Skate Helmets - these are great for use with Power Bocking. Unfortunately Pro-Jump don't currently sell skate helmets but a quick Google Search will give you loads of places where you can purchase a good quality skate helmet from. Make sure you shop around to get the best deal! Skate helmets are also designed to take multiple impacts so they will last you a fair while.

Snowboarding Helmets - Like Skate helmets, these provide excellent protection and can take plenty of impact.

Snowboarding Helmets
D30 caps - These look cool and those that don't like skate helmets do recommend these however please note that although d3o technology offers much greater protection than a regular cap, they do not offer complete head protection nor comply with any standards established for protective headgear like helmets.

D30 hats
Read more about the D30 technology here

Motorcycle Helmets
These are NOT recommended as they are only made to take one impact

WRIST PADS...

Contrary to popular belief wrist pads are not really designed to stop you getting grazes or cuts but more to protect you from breaking your wrist! Although wearing wristpads can not guarantee that you won’t hurt your wrist, it will help lower the impact and if you are lucky instead of a wrist breakage you may have a broken forearm instead which is a much lesser injury.

Wrist Pads
Wrist pads have a sturdy plastic on the palm section which take some impact of the fall. The best way to use wrist pads is when you fall to push out the force of the fall using the plastic so it sort of slides on the floor.

This is what could happen if you do not use wrist guards

Pro-Jump now sell WRIST PADS at their store

KNEE & ELBOW PADS

Knee & Elbow pads are essential safety products you should get. Not only will these help you keep your knees and elbows safe but will stop you getting grazes and cuts too and will take some of the impact if you should fall.

The Knee Shin pads like the ones shown above work really well with Bocking and a selection can be found on the Pro-Jump Website Safety Gear Page

These knee pads work really well when used with the jumping stilts as they will also help "fill the gap" and make your legs feel a lot more secure. A lot of users also recommend tying the straps of the kneepads all the way round the stilts to get a more secure hold.

Knee pad

BACK PROTECTOR

Pro-Jump.co.uk also sell back protection armour and armoured jackets that may come in handy whilst bocking or when you want to try some extreme bocking moves!

back Protector

however if you just want a simple solution, check out Bills Powerbocking resource page where he gives a handy and very cheap method on protecting your tail bone!

Be safe & have fun ;)
