Title: Children In Need Fundraiser (PLEASE READ FIRST POST)
Post by: Carma on October 15, 2007, 09:25:34 AM
CONFIRMED PARTAKERS!

Carma, Sx Nutta, Big Bad Bounce Boy, Dexter, Loki, Smiler, Green Carl, UrbanTricker, Dark Knight, Paul-Self, Jonny (With Paul-Self), Trixster, Devi (+ Guest), Some guy called 'Shannan', a juggler guy called 'Tom', Hybrid_Hex, Mixmasterj_01, Jason R, Ice2cu, Emma (EPB), Mary (EPB), and a whole bunch of 'tag-alongs'

Calling all Bockers!!! On Friday November 16th 2007 (10am to late) we will be attempt to make an 'official' World Record for the largest number of Bockers gathering in one place at one time (Pretty liekly as there has never been a record for this before). A few of us will be kicking it all off at 10am at Hyde Park Corner so people can turn up from then onwards (We are going to arrange 'display' check points through out the day closer to the 16th so everyone will know where we are when). We will be hitting town, stopping and displaying in various places around major tourist spots, carrying buckets to collect cash which at times we will go in and change at major Children In Need sponsoring stores for notes to lessen the weight of all the money we intend to collect!!! We will have police escorts that have already been arranged and will have music to bounce to. The official number record will be taken at 4pm back at Hyde Park Corner. In the evening we will try and get aired on BBC's Children In Need night (Hense all this being on a Friday) and I am making arrangements for that as we speak. This is going to be a major event it seems and a great way to promote our sport, so please everyone! Come and join the bounce party!

I will be supplying everyone with their very own buckets and lables so need to know who can come (even if its a likely maybe). I will have to pay £300 for the application fee to Guinness World Records. This is the fast track application but it guarentees us getting a record. It also provides us with various officials and advice. Because this is coming out of my own pocket it would be a MASSIVE help if people could spare £10 (if under 30 people) to cover the cost for this. Of course this isnt manditory to take part but would just help me spread my costs. So feedback on this would be great too!

We will probably have spare Bocks on the day too so we can get spectators up on them if they wanted a go.

Also, as I am aware that we have no idea what the weather will be doing on the day I have arranged for Sx Nutta to make quite a few spare tyre socks for anyone who needed them on the day. He is also making some fantastic 'bumble bee' fur spring covers which a lot of us are already going to buy off him (cost about £10 to cover his expenses for the fur) So gimme a shout if you want to reserve a pair as they seem to be going fast.

Ok, heres a rough (VERY ROUGH) map of my proposed route, the numbers are the preferable display check points...

1 - Hyde Park Corner
2 - Speakers Corner
3 - Somewhere enroute down Oxford Street
4 - Centre Point
5 - Covent Garden
6 - Outside Charing Cross Station (Or somewhere before then down the Strand)
7 - Leicester Square
8 - Piccadilly Circus
9 - I dont like the route I first planned as shown on this map so I am changing it to go down Northumberland Avenue and down
Victoria Embankment with a display check point at Westminster.
10 - St James Park

The plan is to get to on the hour and leave each point at 15 mins past each hour to give people a chance to meet us at various points during the day. Let me know if anyone knows of any good display spots on this route that I havent specified.

I know, tell me about it, thats why I am paying out over £400 to make it all possible!

By the way. Massive appologies to the ground crew but because tickets for the party are extremely limited, I am trying to get tickets for all the Bockers only. I have already told them that although they max 5 people, its all or nothing with our group. Either we all come in or none of us do.

I simply AM NOT choosing who can and cant come. I would rather not go at all.

I need to gain some feedback on where everyone wants to eat? being a very long day we will need to stop off for a proper break to refuel (not MacDonalds) which I should be able to book out for all of us.

I am thinking about booking out a pub, considering we have about 40 ppl all in all going. Shouldnt be a problem. Also, I intend to make it a 2 hour break for food and a genuine rest as we will have been on the Bocks for about 4 hours by then (if you are starting at 10am, which isnt essential)

unfortanatly i cant go soz parents say that it is impossible for me to go and miss a day of school
Say you'll work harder at school to make up for the day off , learn a lot of safety tips from other Bocks , and you won't moan next time they say NO !?
It's all a matter of give and take !?

Just to let everyone know we might be doing something a LOT more appealing than the party, but I appologise to everyone for the delay, its really annoying me as I HATE everyhting being arranged last minute but BBC still havent got back to me, dispite apparently needing my details 'ASAP' so they can contact me. Oh the annoyance of it all... Everything else is progressing nicely. Contacting Westminster Council and police today... And finalising the event PLI cover. I have just ordered our buckets too! and the company has done us a wonderful have price deal because of the charity event! YEY!

P.S. Knee healing nicely so all being well I should finally be back on my Bocks by the Friday

P.P.S. Nice to see more and more people coming, even though I only have cover for 30 of us lol. Looks liek there 'could' be 40 of us!!! Or maybe even 50!!!

As a note guys, this IS going to be a yearly event now, and next year we will indeed all have FREE T-shirts, and there will probably be a banner and flags made up. But no record attempt :p. This is going to be the first and only time we will be doing the record as its a organisers nightmare! But next year, we have ironed out all issues and problems. Not that these slight problems will effect anyone this year, they are merely issues I have had which have made my life difficult. Serves me right for leaving only 5 weeks to organise!!!

By the way, we are not going to be able to have police this year but never mind!

Ok, guys, theres good news and theres bad news.

Good News, we have tickets to the Fundraisers Party,

Bad News, we only have 6.

Now I am facing a real dilemma here. Do I say no one goes, or do I work out who goes. Help. I dont want to be the one to pick and choose who does and doesnt get it. But it does seem a to big a chance to totally pass up.

I think I might have reached a conclusion.

On the day, we all make a confidential vote on three people, at least one being a marshall (this is because of the handling of the money)

Marshalls are Sx Nutta, Big Bad Bounce Boy and myself. And no, I am not automatically giving myself a ticket as that isnt fair :p. The count will be final and the decider. We will do this during our lunch break. And should add a real excitment factor to the proceedings. What does everyone think?

Ummm...

Few more choices for you

1. To hell with it and no one goes - I think a big missed opportunity.

2. You, Tom, BBBB, then the next three who showed interest first - this would be fair as you guys deserve it after all the hard work you put in plus there was a lot of negativity to begin with and the guys who showed interest first showed real interest in the event.

3. You, Tom, BBBB and the first three who paid into the fund again because they committed

4. Whoever wants to go to the party, to pop their name in a bucket and then just pick out 5 random names.

I personally think you deserve to go to the Party forgot about being fair :D

Anyone who'd like a place draws a card ACE high. If too many get high cards they draw them again simple and fair.
No ones should be upset if they don't get a ticket that's not why their there ?

You know I'd loved to have gone, but if I'd didn't but had the same chance as those did go then I could live with it ( jealous as but ... ? ).

To everyone whos getting there by tube. You will be better to go to Green Park due to it being a major interchange station and having three interconnecting lines in it. I will come down and meet you at the station as I know the way like the back of my hand if you wish. I already plan to meet some so if you just drop me a PM and I will send you my phone number so you can let me know when you get into London.

Ok, sorry for the lateness of this message, only just remembered. But can everyone wear AT LEAST wrist guards... This is because this could be an extremely publicised event and we have a duty to set an example to everyone observing. Knee and elbow guards or helmets are purely up to you.. But wrist guards are a MUST. If anyone doesnt have any, I will bring a spare (unused) set. If anyone has spares can they bring them along please!

Hi Carma

I hope I've got it wrong but I downloaded your route map so I can meet you lot at midday and then looked at the first post  looks like we're double booked

Route map says 4-30pm Parliament Sq
1st post says record attempt in hyde park 4-00pm

It's gonna be one fast bock to do that  ;D

Or have I missed an update on the Route map  ???
Title: Re: Children In Need Fundraiser (PLEASE READ FIRST POST)
Post by: Carma on November 14, 2007, 10:58:10 PM
Nope, as mentioned on the map, the route after lunch is suggestive only. We dont have to be anywhere for the record so we will do it on route, OR we MIGHT travel to Tottenham Court Road to the GWR head quarters and take photos of our attempt outside :). We will decide this on the day.

a photo's would be great but an idea would be to line up and get someone with a video to go alone the line.
Everyone in turn would yell their names out so you'd know how many was there and all the names.

With no one running from one end to the other as some did at CB !
That may have been funny but not for the record.

The final stage around Hyde Park Corner ?
It's much better to go over Hyde Park Corner than around the edge.
When you come from Constitution Hill on the righthand side there's a crossing on the far side there's one near Knightsbridge Green.
I'll find the list of live webcams that you'll be passing on route.

the day was awesome their will be a whole thread tomorrow called "the journey home" its a long story but basically it ended up with me Carl Billy and Jonny stuck at a BP  garage with Carl's drive shaft on the floor along with a spring of some description

we then got a taxi to bury st ed train station and was then told our train was delayed by 30mins so ended up getting another taxi and spending a ton of cash to get home

the pictures will be accompanied by a 15min recording of lots of swearing / the really horrible sounds the car was making b4 it finally gave up

i have got some really nice in motion pictures of us pushing the car and the drive shaft barely hanging on to the car

hopefully their will be a You tube soundtrack of the car dieing and a lot of pictures so you can listen whilst you browse

Cheers for the hilarious ride home and awesome day everyone

includes Carl's extremely gay sounding horn

I just heard about the journey home from Carl, as long as you all got home in 1 peice thats the main thing  ;)

Looks like a great day was made even more memorable - you may not think the journey home was amusing but in years to come you'll think of it and laugh out loud!

Look forward to the pics / vids :)

Your gonna hate me for saying this Paul but if you ever find youself in that position again call the AA and join for £39

I think they will just take you and the car home at least thats what the ad says might have been cheeper but not half as much fun by the sound of it

You should have stayed the Beeb was fun  ;D

And bad luck with the car Carl you have my evey sympathy I had a lot of old cars when I was young so I know how that feels  :'( Hope its easily mendable

Just want to say, a huge well done to everyone for raising so much money. I am hoping so strike up a deal with BBC next year for some proper buckets. Hopefully we can raise more year on year!!!

P.S. Working on Guinness still, shouldnt be long now!!! We should have the record for 51 ppl as I know we counted that with the PCSO who was refereeing us
